Morning! This week I interviewed Lilia from the blog Lily-like. A 21 years old Fashion, Beauty & Lifestyle blogger. Lilia is born with fashion and beauty because this is very important in the Russian culture. Lilia is half Russian :). She started her blog 1,5 year ago and this was her best decision of her life.
Let’s get to know Lilia a little bit better! Enjoy the interview!
1. Can you tell us a little about yourself?
Of course! My name is Lilia, I’m almost 21 years old (and starting to feel very old already…) and I’m a fashion, beauty & lifestyle blogger at www.lily-like.com. I’m also in my third year of my bachelor Dutch Law at the University of Groningen. Oh and I’m kinda obsessed with pugs. Just saying.
2. What was the reason why you started your blog?
I’ve always been into fashion, beauty & lifestyle. I think it’s partly due to my heritage: I’m half Russian and my mom always encouraged me to make myself look like the best version of me (beauty is highly valued when it comes to the Russian culture). I’ve also followed blogs since I was 12 years old, but I never had the courage to start one myself. 1,5 years ago my ex boyfriend gave me a domain name for Sinterklaas (Dutch Christmas) and that’s how I started blogging. Best decision of my life so far, for sure.
3. How would you describe your clothing style?
I find this so hard to be honest! I’m really into opposites when it comes to fashion, or actually everything in my life. I like to mix feminine, chic or even business appropriate wear with super edgy, minimalistic or even hip-hop inspired pieces. I guess my style is just a clash of two opposites.
4. How do you keep coming up with material/content for your blog? Many people struggle with coming up with different articles/posts
I’ve actually never had to struggle with coming up with new content for my blog. I always feel like my ideas and inspiration is overflowing. I try to write every idea that pops up in my head down immediately, otherwise I’m going to forget it!
5. What are you favorite brands and shops?
My favourite brand has to Brandy Melville. I love their laidback clothing style and the quality of their pieces is just amazing (I literally want to cuddle with myself whenever I’m wearing one of their tees or sweaters). My favourite designer has to be Alexander Wang though. I genuinely love everything that he makes.
6. What’s now on your wish list?
I really want some new clothing for the Fall! I’m especially really into vests and gilets. I’m also on the lookout for some kick ass leopard printed booties. If somebody can help me out with that, would be really great!
7. Who are your favorite bloggers?
My favourite bloggers are Sonya Esman, Kenza Zouiten en Fanny Lyckman. I love their fashion sense, photography and style of blogging!
8. If someone was interested in blogging, what would be a few things you would suggest? Tips!
First of all, you really need to make sure that you are ready to commit. I often need to cancel plans with my friends, go to bed very late or skip a lecture because I have to write a blogpost, answer my emails or go to an event. Blogging is much more time consuming than most people think, so you really need to be prepared to make a sacrifice for it. Also, try to start out at WordPress.org instead of Blogger.com. Trust me, you will thank me in the long run, ‘cause WordPress.org is just way more professional than Blogger is!
