Morning! Last Saturday I went to the #MeetTalkBlog WordPress event organized by Lily and Internet Advantage. This time the event was not in Amsterdam, but in my home town Utrecht. When we arrived we got a warm welcome by Lily with a nice surprise for us at the table. Delicious cupcakes with our blogname and nice goodies. When everyone was arrived the presentation could started.
Maarten Schuurmans from Internet Advantage showed us the 15 most relevant plugins for WordPress. Last Wednesday I already show you my top plugins (HERE) and they where very similar with the plugins from Maarten. Underneath I will show you the one’s that I didn’t mention in my post.
1. SumoMe
SumoMe provides the tools you need to grow your blog by engaging your readers. With this plugin, your readers are able to subscribe or share your amazing post.
2. JetPack
Jetpack is a single plugin that gives you the most powerful WordPress.com features. For example, you can use this plugin to see the stats of your blog (especially for the clicks stats).
3. UpPrev
This was the one where I was looking for. UpPrev is an animated flyout or fade box with related content. If you scroll to the bottom of this post, you will see a box with an other page suggestion fly in on the right side. This is a great tool to help you get more page views.
4. Lockdown WP admin
You can customize your WordPress security. For example by changing the admin login page URL will reduce the chance to be hacked.
5. Login lockdown
Limits the number of login attempts. For example, you can set 2 times and after inserting your login incorrectly 2 times it will block the IP address. This will help to prevent brute force password discovery.
6. W3 total cache
Speed is among the most significant success factors on web sites. In fact, your site’s speed directly affects your income (revenue). With this plugin you can optimize the speed of your blog/website.
7. Askimet
We all hate spam. It’s annoying. Filtering it manually is confusing and time-consuming. This plugin will help you to filter a big part of the spam for you! Really helpful.
After the plugins Maarten explain how SEO works. This was really handy because I didn’t understand anything of this, but know I do :). I promise you to make a post about it. I also discovered that my WordPress theme Fashionista have limits. For example I want a header with my own logo. But my theme don’t have an edit button, so that is not possible. Maybe I will changes my theme, but am not sure because I really like this lay-out. We will see! I learn also a lot from the other bloggers. Virgit told me everything about Rewardstyle nd Frederique figure out how you can edit a profile picture in WordPress and showed that to me. It was really a learn full day. I met some great bloggers and most important it was fun.
Thanks Lily for this lovely day and can’t wait till the next #meetTalkBlog event.
